Goods in transit insurance explained – and why it is important.
What is Goods in Transit Insurance?
Goods in transit cover is particularly important in the courier or haulage industry. The goods being transported don’t belong to the carriage company but rather to the shipper. The shipper then needs to ensure that their goods are adequately insured. ICExpress has limited liability insurance in place, but this does not include replacement of goods lost, stolen or destroyed.
Goods in transit insurance will let the client rest, safe in the knowledge that should your goods be lost, stolen or damaged in any way whilst in transit you won’t have to foot the bill (subject to the terms and conditions of the policy wording). There may be an excess in the policy.
It is important to read and undertsand the policy wording and not to under-insure the shipment.
ICExpress recommends GIT insurance on all shipments and we will quote you for the insurance before shipping if you require.
