GIT Insurance explained
Goods in transit cover matters in the courier and haulage industry because the goods being transported do not belong to the carrier. They belong to the shipper, and it is the shipper who needs to make sure they are adequately insured.
What our liability cover does not do
GlobeFreight has limited liability insurance in place, but that does not include replacement of goods lost, stolen or destroyed. That is the gap Goods in Transit cover fills.
What GIT cover does
If your goods are lost, stolen or damaged in any way while in transit, you do not have to foot the bill, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy wording. There may be an excess in the policy.
Read the policy wording
It is important to read and understand the policy wording, and not to under-insure the shipment. The cover is only as good as the value you declare.
How to arrange it
GlobeFreight recommends GIT insurance on all shipments, and we will quote you for the insurance before shipping if you require it. Ask for it when you request your quote and it will be priced alongside the freight.
Cover can be arranged on sea, air and road freight. If you are not sure whether your consignment needs it, phone 086 9990 559 and ask.
Ask for cover with your quote
Tell us what you are moving and we will quote the freight and the Goods in Transit cover together. Phone 086 9990 559 or email admin@globefreight.co.za.
